Our newest vendor, Mountain Feed and Farm Supply, joins the Aptos Farmers Market starting April 7, on the lower level of the market. It isn't hard to miss their well-stocked booth and vintage farm trucks filled to the hilt with canning supplies and equipment, cheese making supplies and cultures, pickling crocks, and just about anything needed to preserve, pickle or brew! Best of all, customers can learn more about canning and preserving food at the monthly demos by knowledgeable staff from Mountain Feed.
ABOUT THE STORE
For eight years, Mountain Feed and Farm Supply has been the cornerstone of the sustainable lifestyle in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Since it first opened in 2004, the store has grown from two small buildings selling animal feed and pet food into a full-scale 'sustainable living convenience store,' with five unique buildings and over an acre of land dedicated to everything the homesteader needs, from production to preservation and everything in between.
It was a vision inspired by the owners Andi and Jorah, and their commitment to customer service is still what Mountain Feed is all about. With over twelve full-time employees each with a different area of expertise, the store has grown into a valuable resource center for our local community. If you're interested in learning about ways to shrink your footprint—whether it's managing compost or making your own cheese—then this is the place to learn it.
From the beginning Mountain Feed has been stocked by popular demand and customer feedback, always striving to be 'the store that the community wants us to be.' And with that guidance, the store has become a hub for ecologically sound and sustainable solutions for developing and maintaining our local resources.
