Phil seeks to continually improve ttheir farming methods through observation, talking with other farmers, soil and tissue testing, and keeping up with the latest research. The farming operation is actively pursuing alternatives to fossil fuels. They have 53 kilowatts of solar panels, and intend to add more. They fuel most of their tractors and trucks with biodiesel. All of the diesel delivery trucks and newer tractors use 100% biodiesel.

Soil: We build the soil with cover crops and compost.

Pest Management: We practice environmentally sensitive pest control by attracting beneficial insects, constructing owl boxes, planting hedgerows, spraying compost tea, and more. Our goal is to minimize spraying (even though the sprays are organic) whenever possible. We try to anticipate insect and disease problems, and use a multifaceted approach to preventing them, using organic techniques. Biological control is always our primary goal.

Water Use: We decrease water consumption and protect water quality by using drip irrigation whenever possible, and other water saving techniques.

Workers: We believe in paying employees a fair wage and benefits, and treating them with respect.

Certifications: Certified Organic by CCOF and IFOAM
