Dr. Abrams Biography
About Rachel Carlton Abrams, MD, MHS
Dr. Abrams received her Medical Degree at the University of California-San Francisco and a Master’s Degree in Holistic Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California-Berkeley. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice. She is also Board Certified in Holistic Medicine and a member of the American Holistic Medical Association.
Her seven years as a family medicine physician at the Santa Cruz Medical Clinic have given her invaluable experience in knowing what works, and doesn’t work, in conventional medicine. At SCIMCC, Dr. Abrams spends more time with her patients exploring the important connections between health and vitality, relationships, lifestyle choices, work and environment. She teaches regularly on holistic health issues at Esalen Institute, UCSC, and SCIMCC. She has published two books on Taoism, holistic health and sexuality.
Rachel loves the ocean and the redwoods. She enjoys cycling, coaches and plays volleyball, and loves to travel and cook. Most importantly, she is happily married and the mother of three fabulous children, all residing in Santa Cruz. California. She shops weekly at the Aptos Farmer's Market.
