Rocky Oaks Goat Creamery is the realization of a long-held dream for Margie and Joel Weber—a dream rooted in animals, land stewardship, and the belief that great cheese begins with exceptional milk. In 2018, they opened what became the Central Valley’s first farmstead artisanal goat creamery, producing handcrafted cheeses exclusively from the milk of their own Nubian goat herd.
From the beginning, the Webers set out to make goat cheeses that are approachable, refined, and deeply satisfying, whether you are a longtime goat cheese devotee or a cautious newcomer. Every cheese is made in small batches on the farm, allowing the natural character of the milk—clean, rich, and gently tangy—to shine.
A Team-Centered Farmstead Philosophy
At Rocky Oaks, cheesemaking is inseparable from animal care. The creamery is supported by a dedicated team of artisans and producers, along with Fresno State University agriculture interns who bring both curiosity and technical knowledge to the farm. Equal care is given to every resident—from the goat herd to the barn cats, and even the guardian dogs, Barbara and Blake.
This focus on daily care and husbandry is central to Rocky Oaks’ identity. Healthy, content goats produce superior milk, and that milk becomes the foundation for cheeses known for their balanced flavors, creamy textures, and versatility in the kitchen.
