Monterey Bay Certified Farmers Markets is proud to announce the launch of its revamped companion website, EdibleParadise.com just in time for holiday cooking and baking!

Edible Paradise features seasonal recipes using ingredients available at the local farmers’ markets. “Our goal is to provide a resource that our community can easily access for information about local produce. The site includes ‘how to’ preparation guides, delicious recipes from our vendors, contest winners, and many contributions by local chefs,” says Annaliese Keller, the marketing director for the organization and editor of
Edible Paradise.

“There is a vast amount of culinary talent in the Monterey Bay area. In addition to great chefs, we also have a fantastic culinary arts program at Cabrillo College. Many chefs shop every week at our farmers’ markets.

Some of the local chefs who contributed recipes include:

  • Andrew Cohen (MBCFM’s Chef in Residence, food writer, and culinary instructor)
  • Owen Snyder (owner-chef of the former Papa O’s restaurant)
  • Jamie Smith (chef-owner, Foodsmith)
  • Andrea Nguyen (cookbook author and James Beard Award recipient)
  • Anne Baldzikowski (culinary instructor at Cabrillo College)
  • Stephany Buswell (culinary instructor and certified master baker)
  • Hans Haveman (former chef with Wolfgang Puck and co-owner of H & H Fresh Fish)

Annaliese Keller, the recipe curator for the Edible Paradise is a professional baker and product developer. She has been a lifelong recipe collector and has digitized her extensive recipe library of more than 5,000 recipes over the years, many of which are on the website. “I’ve been the ‘recipe historian’ of several families. I’ve kept the original clippings and tattered and stained recipe cards from my grandmother and other dear friends — I can’t part with them. Each tells a story. I like nothing better than when someone says, ‘I remember this dish my [grandmother, mom, aunt, sister] used to make…’ and off I go to research it!”

None of this would be possible without our extraordinary creative director, Daniel Saenz. Both an incredible graphic designer and web developer, Daniel’s artistry and engineer-like perfection shine throughout the new website. He’s also responsible for designing the primary MBCFM website, farmers’ market hats and t-shirts swag, ads, and banners. He also enjoys working with our farmers’ market vendors to develop their branding, websites, and e-commerce.

We hope the new Edible Paradise will inspire our community to enjoy cooking with our California-grown produce and enjoy delicious family meals at home.
